Sanford Richard Winston Papers 1925 - 1973

The Sanford R. Winston Collection primarily contains documents from the 1930s and 1940s, when Winston was head of the Department of Sociology at North Carolina State College. The collection includes correspondence, speeches, and writings related to Winston's interests in rural sociology, African-American issues, and leadership. Materials about his career activities and the organizations to which he belonged are included in the collection, as well as planning documents and descriptions of the S.R. Winston Music Collection, which was established following Winston's death.

Educator, writer, and sociologist. Sanford Richard Winston was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at North Carolina State University from 1926 to 1931, and as full professor from 1961 to 1963.
